JHARKHAND RAKSHA SHAKTI UNIVERSITY
The National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched on 24th September, 1969, marking the 100th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Inspired by Gandhiji's vision of involving youth in nation-building and understanding rural life, the NSS aims to foster a spirit of voluntary service among students. The fundamental principle of the NSS is that it is led by the students themselves, with active involvement from teachers, to promote a sense of participation and responsibility in national development.
The core objective of NSS is the personality development of students through community service, guided by its motto: “Not Me But You”, which reflects the spirit of selfless service and social responsibility.
The NSS began with 40,000 volunteers across 37 universities and higher secondary institutions. Today, it boasts a nationwide network of over 40 lakh volunteers.
At Raksha Shakti University, the NSS unit plays an active role in promoting social awareness and community engagement among students. The university’s volunteers are committed to working in diverse areas such as rural development, health and hygiene awareness, environmental protection, disaster relief, and national integration. The NSS unit regularly organizes camps, blood donation drives, cleanliness campaigns, and other community outreach programs to instill a sense of civic responsibility and leadership among the students.
