This has been established by the Govt. of Jharkhand on 03rd October 2016, and is recognized by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. Jharkhand Raksha Shakti University is first of its kind in Jharkhand and third in the country for conducting certificate, diploma and degree courses in the field of police science and internal security.

Till the new University building becomes operational, the activities of the University is being conducted from the Old Judicial Academy building (SKIPA campus) situated at Meurs Road, Ranchi. Its permanent campus is being established over a wide spread area of 75 acres near Khunti which is around 30 km away from Ranchi city.
